New School Year, new space! This semester PIAL moved workspace locations to a new office in Palmer. To celebrate, the PIAL team hosted an Open House for the Iowa State Community! We had a great time meeting all of the faculty and students who attended. We even used a pair of big scissors to cut the ribbon marking the opening of the new space.

CWRTP-Service Training Hosts New Social Worker Training at Botanical Gardens

A new rollout of SW 714 Structured Decision-Making Safety Assessment was launched in November 2021. This training includes material from Evident Change ( and the training team on the Structured Decision Making (SDM) system and the new SDM Safety Assessment, which will be used statewide. The CWRTP Service Training teams have prepared and supported nine offerings across Iowa, both online and in-person.

Team Building: More Than a FUN Time!

We all know team building is important. It increases employee engagement, productivity, trust, communication, and collaboration. In the last year and a half, the office environment changed drastically. We are no longer all together, working 8:00-4:30, Monday through Friday. Instead, we are now hybrid, working varying schedules. Sometimes we see each other in person and other times we see each other through virtual platforms. This change to hybrid does not mean we don't need to engage, communicate, and collaborate with one another. We still need to do all that to be happy and successful team members.

The ISU-Iowa Child Support contract team recently gathered at the Lynn Fuhrer lodge. The three plus hours spent together were filled with laughter, "awww" moments, finger snaps and clapping. We shared, we reminisced and connected on many levels. We also indulged in delicious potluck items. We are grateful for these moments.
