AmeriCorps member spotlight: Lauren Denning

Lauren Denning was part of the Iowa AmeriCorps State Member Leadership Council pilot, an initiative of Volunteer Iowa’s National Service Challenge Grant from the Schultz Family Foundation. The Member Leadership Council pilot helped Volunteer Iowa explore best practices for supporting member professional development and creating new ambassadors for AmeriCorps service in Iowa.

After completing two terms of service with AmeriCorps, Lauren recently participated in a short-term assignment with a natural disaster response team working to provide relief to people impacted by Hurricane Ian in Florida. Congratulations to Lauren for her dedication to volunteer service!

AmeriCorps members in this program serve across Iowa to help build capacity for organizations that focus on child and family wellbeing. Communities benefit from capacity-building around child abuse prevention efforts. For more information about how you can serve your community with AmeriCorps, please contact Program Director Erika Abusharkh at: erikaa@iastate.edu   Benefits include professional development and training, a monthly living stipend, and money to use towards tuition and student loans.
