Staff Feature: Abby Stanek

Abby Stanek is a program coordinator for Parenting: It’s a Life. While she is new to this role, Abby is a familiar face to the team. She previously worked as the outreach coordinator for the Voluntary Paternity Affidavit program. After leaving for a brief time, she returned to the CSRU contract team in March 2021.

Abby was brought on to assist with the new PIAL grant, which is something she is anxious to get off the ground.

“I’m eager to develop life skills in emerging adults, as well as continuing to work with young adults. We have a lot of innovative things planned to happen to reach emerging adults effectively, and I think we have a great opportunity to make a difference around the state of Iowa!” Abby said about PIAL’s expansion.

In her free time, Abby entertains a number of hobbies including reading, sewing, cross-stitching, and crafting. She is also a traveler who enjoys adventuring, hiking, and camping with her family.

When asked what keeps her excited about working with CWRTP, Abby answered with this thought: “While in interviews with PIAL student employee prospects, I often receive the question, “What is your favorite part of your job?” My answer is always that I know that PIAL is creating and building life skills in the young people we work with. It’s exciting to know that because of PIAL and the work of teachers we partner with, we are helping youth to have the skills to succeed into their future."

Thank you for everything you do, Abby!
